CS 1.6 player count right now

At 16:41 UTC on 3 November 2026, 5,312 people were playing Counter-Strike 1.6 on 465 public servers with no bot or fake-player flag, according to Combat Skirmish’s scan of the public Counter-Strike 1.6 master list.

At the same moment those servers and the flagged ones reported 15,696 players in total, 2,639 of which were bots the servers declare themselves.

At the same moment, 73 listings were the same server under a second address, so their 986 players are counted once, under the original.

The 723 flagged servers carried 6,759 more players who are not declared as bots; we leave all of them out, real people included, because those servers show bot or fake clients they do not declare or pad their count.

So the real number at 16:41 UTC on 3 November 2026 was at least 5,312 and at most 12,071.

CS 1.6 Steam player count vs. the server count

At 16:43 UTC on 3 November 2026, Steam’s own Web API reported 11,899 people running Counter-Strike 1.6 (Steam app 10).

That is the figure SteamCharts and SteamDB chart, and it measures something different from this page.

Steam counts every Steam client with the game open, including players in the menu, on LAN, and on servers that never list themselves publicly.

Steam does not count players on non-Steam clients, which most public CS 1.6 servers admit (see the server statistics).

The server count on this page sees every listed public server, whatever client its players use, and nothing that is not listed.

Neither number contains the other, so they cannot be added or subtracted to get a total.

How the CS 1.6 player count is measured

Every five minutes we ask each server on the public Counter-Strike 1.6 master list for its player count, its bot count and its player list.

A bot is a player the server itself declares as a bot.

A server is flagged, and its players left out, when its player list shows clients that never leave or that join in a timed cohort, when its players are named as bots, when it will not show its player list at all, when it pads its count with fake traffic, or when it is a duplicate listing of another server.

Password-protected, private and LAN servers are invisible to the master list, so they are not counted.

This is the same count as the live number on the Combat Skirmish home page, measured from one vantage point.
