The buy menu is half the game
New players think CS is about aim. It is at least as much about money. The team that manages its economy well arrives at the important rounds with rifles and armour while the other side is holding pistols — and that decides matches far more often than any single duel.

That escalating loss bonus is why saving works: two lost rounds in a row can fund a full buy on the third.
Kevlar plus a helmet is the most efficient money you will ever spend. It turns a series of lethal hits into survivable ones and, against most weapons, means a headshot no longer instantly ends you.
A rifle with no armour loses to a cheaper gun with armour more often than new players believe. If the choice is a better gun or a worse gun plus armour, take the armour.
An eco round is a deliberate decision to buy little or nothing so the whole team can buy properly next round. It only works if everyone does it: one player spending on a rifle "just in case" defeats the entire point and leaves the team poor AND outgunned.
Ecos are not free rounds either. Deagles and a stacked push can steal one, and every kill you get is money that funds the round after.
A force buy is the opposite bet: spend everything now, accept being poor next round, because this round matters too much to concede. Stopping the enemy from building a streak, or preventing a match point, can be worth the debt.
Force buys are where cheap guns earn their place — an SMG or a half-price rifle plus armour, five players together, beats five individual half-decisions.
Say what you have. "I can full buy", "I need a drop", "let us all save" — three seconds of communication before the round is worth more than any individual purchase. Teams that buy together arrive together.
Knowing what each weapon costs and what it is for is the foundation the whole economy sits on. The weapons pages list every price and magazine size and explain when each gun is worth the money.
