The AWP kills with a single hit anywhere but the legs, regardless of armour. That one fact reshapes every map it appears on: a held long angle stops being a duel and becomes a question of whether you are willing to walk into it.
It costs $4750 — most of a full buy — and it is bolt-action, so a miss leaves you helpless for the reload. It is punishing to move with, punishing to be rushed with, and devastating when the holder has the discipline to hold one angle and not get greedy.
Learning to play against one is as much a skill as using it: smoke it, flash it, or take an angle it cannot cover — never trade a rifle for a scope at range.
