The MP5 is the most forgiving gun in the game. Cheap at $1500, almost no recoil, and accurate enough to trade with rifles at close and mid range — it is what you buy when the round money is thin but you still intend to win the fight.
It also pays kill bonuses that rebuild an economy, which is why full MP5 buys are a legitimate strategy on a reset round rather than a sign of desperation.
